Program Description

Event Details

In Colonial North America, Slavery was a part of life.  This was true on Long Island and across the Northeast.  Enslaved people of African heritage were a presence in the farms and homes of nearly every family of means, not just on the estates of the very wealthy.  The Plain Sight Project seeks to restore the stories of these enslaved and free people of color to their essential place in American history.  Project Founder David Rattray and Chairwoman Donnamarie Barnes will lead the illustrated discussion.
