Cauliflower
  • Brassica oleracea

  • Growing Instructions

    • Sow seeds indoors, about six weeks before the last frost, at a depth of ¼"

    • Plant outside just before the last frost, about 24” apart

    • Cauliflower prefers cooler temperatures, and a steady supply of water, and full sunlight

    • To prevent the white curds from yellowing, leaves can be tied around the cauliflower heads, however this practice is not required

    • Ready to harvest approximately 60-85 days from transplant

  • Seed Saving

    • Allow cauliflower head to mature, so it flowers and produces seed pods

    • Once pods have dried fully on the plant, remove plant from the ground

    • Hang cauliflower plant to dry for about two weeks

    • Remove dried pods from the plant and break open pods to collect seeds

    • Seeds should be stored in a cool, dry place and are viable for up to five years
