Spinach
  • Spinacia oleracea

  • Growing Instructions

    • Sow in early spring or late summer, as spinach grows best in cooler weather

    • Plant seeds 1” apart at a depth of ½"

    • Harvest continuously for higher yields

    • Ready to harvest in 45-55 days

  • Seed Saving

    • Allow plants to brown and dry once all leaves have been harvested

    • Identify the plants with small green balls (those will yellow balls will not produce viable seeds)

    • 4-6 weeks after the last leaves have been harvested, and the plant is dry, remove the plant and hang upside down for a week

    • Once plants are fully dry, use your thumb to loosen seeds from the stalk, allowing them to collect in a paper bag (gloves are recommended)

    • Seeds should be stored in a cool, dry place and are viable for 2-3 years
