Ocimum basilicum 

Growing Instructions  

• Sow seeds outdoors once the temperature will not drop below 65°F 

• Seeds can also be started indoors 4-6 weeks prior  

• Prefers rich soil that drains well  

• Full sunlight is needed   

• Thin 4-6" apart 

• Pinch back flower stalks to prevent bolting and sow continuously during the summer 

Seed Saving  

• Allow plants to start flowering 

• Keep flowers on the stem until they turn dry and brown, then remove  

• Place dried flowers into paper back and seal until tiny black seeds fall out  

• Seeds should be stored in a cool, dry place and are viable for several years
