El día de los niños

El día de los niños or Children's Day is a celebration of all children and their cultural backgrounds through the love of literacy.  It emphasizes the importance of reading and links children and their families to a world of learning through diverse books, languages, and cultures.

Día is usually celebrated on April 30th with programs that introduce families to community resources that provide opportunities for learning, to recognize and respect culture, heritage and language as powerful tools for strengthening families and communities, and to nurture cognitive and literacy development in ways that honor and embrace a child’s home language and culture.

Here at the library, we'll be celebrating all week long starting April 24th.  There will be Take and Makes for pick up in the Children's Room representing a different country everyday, a Scavenger Hunt that will get the whole family involved, and a magical book display that will transport children and their families to all parts of the world.
